'After Earth' offers up dark future for humanity

- Getting tired of "in the future, everything sucks" movies. How about a more cheery outlook once in a while? It seems when we went from "The future rocks!" in the 50's and 60's to "We're all going to kill ourselves in 100 years" in the 80's and beyond, the US has gotten more and more morbid.

- It was a different world back then. He was probably right. While today sex slavery is unthinkable, it was probably part of the culture 70 years ago. Don't forget that 70 years before WWII, the US had just stopped it's own slavery.
